“It is wise to believe something wonderful

is about to happen”. ~Anonymous

Welcome to Surviving with Dr. Chrissie — a space where truth meets healing and survival turns into purpose. I created this platform to give voice to the stories we’re often told to silence — the ones shaped by trauma, resilience, faith, and the long road to becoming whole again. Here, we talk about real life: the hard days, the messy healing, and the moments of grace that remind us we’re still standing. Through honest conversations, survivor stories, and a little bit of humor and hope, Surviving with Dr. Chrissie is more than a podcast or a blog — it’s a community. Because surviving isn’t the end of the story; it’s where the rebuilding begins.

Some of the heaviest things a survivor carries never make it into a police report.

Fear. Shame. Guilt. The worry that they won’t be believed. The questions they keep asking themselves: “Was it my fault?” “Could I have stopped it?”

This picture reminds me why healing matters—and why the first response matters.

When a survivor reaches out to law enforcement, the words they hear and the way they are treated can stay with them long after that interaction. A patient, respectful response can help them feel heard and supported as they take the next step.

“You did the right thing by reaching out.”
“What happened to you is not your fault.”
“Let me explain what happens next.”

Supporting officers with trauma-informed training gives them tools to navigate these difficult moments, build trust, and gather information with care.

Healing is a personal journey, but how we respond can help lighten the load.
