“It is wise to believe something wonderful

is about to happen”. ~Anonymous

Welcome to Surviving with Dr. Chrissie — a space where truth meets healing and survival turns into purpose. I created this platform to give voice to the stories we’re often told to silence — the ones shaped by trauma, resilience, faith, and the long road to becoming whole again. Here, we talk about real life: the hard days, the messy healing, and the moments of grace that remind us we’re still standing. Through honest conversations, survivor stories, and a little bit of humor and hope, Surviving with Dr. Chrissie is more than a podcast or a blog — it’s a community. Because surviving isn’t the end of the story; it’s where the rebuilding begins.

You Can Leave the Loop

The image of a woman walking away from a familiar circle stopped me. One path promises more of the same. The other asks her to make a new choice without knowing exactly where it will lead.

I’ve taken familiar paths before, even when they hurt. Sometimes what looks like a pattern began as a way to survive. We learn to keep the peace, ignore our needs, or accept less than we deserve because those choices once helped us get through the day. That is nothing to be ashamed of.

But there can come a moment when we pause and ask, Is this still helping me? Maybe the next step is setting a boundary, reaching out for support, or speaking to ourselves with more kindness. A different choice does not have to be dramatic to matter.

And I don’t believe every painful experience repeats because we failed to “learn the lesson.” Sometimes the harm was never ours to prevent. Healing begins when we recognize what happened, give ourselves grace, and discover that we have choices now.

You don’t have to see the whole road ahead. One honest step can be the beginning of a new path.
