“It is wise to believe something wonderful

is about to happen”. ~Anonymous

Welcome to Surviving with Dr. Chrissie — a space where truth meets healing and survival turns into purpose. I created this platform to give voice to the stories we’re often told to silence — the ones shaped by trauma, resilience, faith, and the long road to becoming whole again. Here, we talk about real life: the hard days, the messy healing, and the moments of grace that remind us we’re still standing. Through honest conversations, survivor stories, and a little bit of humor and hope, Surviving with Dr. Chrissie is more than a podcast or a blog — it’s a community. Because surviving isn’t the end of the story; it’s where the rebuilding begins.

Say What??

What colleges have you attended?

I dropped out of school at 14. The highest grade I had completed was 8th grade. I had 2 children by the time I was 16. Before I could drive a car I was responsible for 2 human lives. My upbringing was not the best!

When I was stable and healthy I decided I wanted to give the education thing a try and applied to Ocean County College. I bombed the entrance test and was told I had to do a year of math and English before I could even start my degree.

I was determined though just tired of being told no. I started to earn an associate degree and today I am about to getting ready to defend my dissertation for my PhD in criminal justice. What a long road it has been hard work and dedication. Tears of fear tears of joy tears of exhaustion. But this year will be my year! You can do what you want. Society doesn’t get to determine your future or your now! Please do not give up!
